- Women and Men in Finland(Statistics Finland, 1995) Veikkola, Eeva-Sisko and Palmu, TarjaThis publication provides statistical data that can be used to create a picture of the lives of women and men in Finland throughout their lifespan, the status of equality in this country, the position of women and men in the family and at work, their education, health, use of time, wages, incomes and participation in public affairs. Finnish women live almost 8 years longer than men. They use their right to vote in local and national elections more often than men, and they are almost as well educated, or even better educated in the case of the younger generation. They have money of their own which they receive from their own full-time paid work. And yet they are still not equal with men on the labour market but are often engaged in different, less prestigious jobs which yield lower incomes.
